I73.5.1 – On-Farm Productive Investments (CLOSED, periodic batches)
Original title (EN): I73.5.1 On-Farm Productive Investments
This call is closed. The submission deadline was 12 June 2026. It stays in the catalogue because these windows recur: ask to be alerted when it reopens.
What it funds
This is the core intervention of Malta's Strategic Plan for on-farm investments and the most relevant one for irrigation and precision technology suppliers. It finances best available techniques, precision agriculture, irrigation systems, modern pesticide management, crop and livestock disease detection, farm waste management, machinery and equipment, establishment of permanent crops and building improvements. Irrigation works must demonstrate a water-efficiency gain of at least 10%. The scheme runs in successive batches with a minimum project threshold above EUR 30,000; a simplified variant exists for projects below that threshold. As at 27 August 2026 the fondi.eu page shows the status as Closed.
Who can apply
Farmers, whether natural or legal persons, including groups of farmers such as partnerships and cooperatives. Cumulative requirements: registration as a farmer in the Department of Agriculture IACS database, a Maltese VAT number and, for natural persons, registration with Jobs Plus as a farmer. Minimum viability thresholds: EUR 15,000 standard output for livestock, 0.3 hectares for outdoor arable crops, 0.5 hectares for vineyards and olive orchards, 50 registered colonies for beekeeping; greenhouses count at 50% equivalency of outdoor area.
Access for non-resident businesses
Notes and caveats
CAUTION on data not fully verified. The institutional fondi.eu page, read on 27 August 2026, shows the status as Closed but reports 28 March 2025 as the last deadline with further sessions planned for 31 July and 28 November 2025: the page content appears out of date. The 2026 session (EUR 6 million budget, 12 June 2026 deadline, co-financing up to 50%, 65% for higher-category farmers and 80% for young farmers, one application per applicant, 6-15 month implementation) is documented by an article in The Malta Independent of 25 April 2026 and has NOT been confirmed from an institutional source: the dotazione_eur and scadenza fields must therefore be reconfirmed directly with the Managing Authority (fondi.eu@gov.mt) before any operational use. The timetable of further sessions is unknown: monitor the 'Calls Launch Timetable' file on fondi.eu.
