Understanding biomass flows in Europe
Research topic on the quantitative mapping of agricultural, forest and waste biomass flows in the European Union: origin, processing, final destination and losses along the chain. The aim…
The EU direct-management instrument most accessible to a single agricultural technology company: no consortium is required. It funds SMEs and start-ups with a high-risk, high-potential innovation already validated in the lab or in a relevant environment, which need to pass through industrial demonstration and market entry. The procedure has two steps: the short proposal can be submitted at any time and is evaluated in monthly batches, while the full proposal must be filed by one of the cut-off dates. Precision irrigation technologies, agricultural sensing and digital water management fall fully within the open thematic scope (EIC Accelerator Open).
Single start-ups and SMEs, including spin-offs, established in an EU Member State or a country associated to Horizon Europe. Small mid-caps up to 499 employees are eligible for the investment component only. Natural persons intending to set up an SME may also apply.
Status 'Open', opening date (6 November 2025) and final short-proposal deadline (17 December 2026) verified against the official Funding & Tenders Portal data endpoint on 27 August 2026. Short proposals are collected in batches evaluated on the first Tuesday of each month; the 2026 cut-off dates for full proposals are 7 January, 4 March, 6 May, 8 July, 2 September and 4 November 2026, so two windows remain after August. The EUR 414 million budget refers to the 'Open' component of the 2026 work programme, plus EUR 220 million for the EIC Accelerator Challenges: figure taken from the EIC work programme and not re-verified item by item.
