LIFE 2026 - Strategic Nature Projects (SNaP), two-stage procedure
Original title (EN): LIFE-2026-STRAT-NAT-SNAP-two-stage - Strategic Nature Projects
What it funds
The LIFE instrument for the large-scale implementation of national or regional Prioritised Action Frameworks for Natura 2000, with a leverage effect on other EU and national funds. It does not fund individual works but multi-annual territorial programmes coordinated by a public authority, frequently including agri-environmental measures and water management in farmland within the Natura 2000 network. Budget EUR 75 million for 2026. Two-stage procedure: concept note by 3 September 2026, full proposal by 4 March 2027.
Who can apply
Coordination is typically entrusted to national or regional public authorities responsible for implementing Prioritised Action Frameworks; the partnership includes site managers, NGOs, universities, companies and farms involved in the actions.
Access for non-resident businesses
Notes and caveats
Status 'Open', budget and both deadlines (3 September 2026 for the concept note, 4 March 2027 for the full proposal) verified against the official data endpoint on 27 August 2026. The first-stage deadline is imminent. A twin climate strand exists, Strategic Integrated Projects SIP CLIMA (EUR 30 million), with the same two-stage timetable.
