Opening soon 🇳🇱 Netherlands Energy and renewables

SDE++ 2026 — Stimulation of Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition

Original title (NL): SDE++ 2026 — Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie en Klimaattransitie

The window is not open yet. The call is already published: applications are accepted from 27 October 2026. This is the time to prepare the paperwork.

What it funds

The Netherlands' main national instrument for renewable energy production and CO2 emission reduction, also open to farms (rooftop solar, electric boilers, industrial and process heat pumps, biogas). It works as an operating grant covering the gap between the production cost of sustainable energy and the market price, not as a capital grant. The 2026 window has been postponed relative to the usual calendar and runs from 27 October to 26 November 2026. The government has allocated EUR 8 billion per year from 2027 to 2032 to the programme. Detailed rules and the full list of eligible technologies are published in the Staatscourant.

Who can apply

Businesses, including farms, holding the required permits and able to demonstrate the technical and financial feasibility of the project. Detailed eligibility criteria are not spelled out by the source consulted.

Notes and caveats

OPENING SOON. The EUR 8 billion per year figure reported by the source refers to the programme's multi-year allocation from 2027 to 2032, NOT to the budget of the 2026 window alone: the specific budget for the 2026 round is not published in the source consulted. At the verification date the final rules had not yet been published in the Staatscourant. This is a non-CAP instrument, relevant for farms investing in renewable energy, but its operating-grant delivery mechanism makes it poorly suited to funding irrigation or precision equipment.
