VLIF support for innovative investments

Original title (NL): VLIF-steun voor innovatieve investeringen (Projectsteun voor innovaties in de landbouw)

This call is closed. The submission deadline was 31 March 2026. It stays in the catalogue because these windows recur: ask to be alerted when it reopens.

What it funds

VLIF strand dedicated to on-farm innovation projects: product, service, process, technique or organisational structure innovations, provided they are implemented for the first time in Flanders within a given sub-sector. The 2026 edition set two themes: emission reduction in organic livestock farming, and an open theme. The rate is 50% for buildings, machinery and equipment, software and control programmes, research and study costs and support costs; it rises to 65% for results measurement and 80% for environmental parameter measurement. Minimum investment is EUR 25,000; the ceiling is EUR 500,000 for the open theme (general costs up to 25%) and EUR 600,000 for the emission reduction theme. The 2026 edition's budget is EUR 5,000,000. Applications are assessed by a committee on innovation, project quality, sustainability and collaboration. The 2026 window ran from 2 February to 31 March 2026.

Who can apply

Active farms with a minimum standard earning capacity of EUR 20,000; groups of farmers constituted as a legal entity in which at least half of the members (minimum 2) reach the EUR 20,000 earning capacity threshold.

Notes and caveats

CLOSED on 31/03/2026. Unlike other VLIF strands this one does not follow the four quarterly windows but has a single annual February-March window: a 2027 edition is therefore expected around February 2027, but is not yet announced. It is the Flemish strand with the highest rates and the most explicit eligibility of software and measurement systems, hence the most relevant for precision farming pilots, but it requires first-application status in Flanders within the sub-sector, a selective condition. The EUR 600,000 ceiling applies only to the organic livestock emission reduction theme (of which max EUR 500,000 for items 1-3 and max EUR 120,000 in general costs); for the open theme the ceiling is EUR 500,000.
