Federal Programme for the Transformation of Livestock Farming (BUT) - investment strand
Original title (DE): Bundesprogramm zur Förderung des Umbaus der landwirtschaftlichen Tierhaltung (BUT) - Investive Förderung
This call is closed. The submission deadline was 31 August 2026. It stays in the catalogue because these windows recur: ask to be alerted when it reopens.
What it funds
Federal programme, not funded by the CAP Strategic Plan, supporting pig farms in converting conventional barns into animal-welfare compliant facilities or building new ones. Applicants must meet premium-level requirements (outdoor climate, outdoor access or organic certification) and submit a project concept before works start; drafting the concept is itself eligible for funding. The final submission date is 31 August 2026, with approvals expected by the end of 2026 and a maximum project duration of 24 months (completion by end 2028). Applications are filed on the federal easy-Online portal.
Who can apply
German pig-farming enterprises meeting the required creditworthiness standards and submitting a professional project concept.
Notes and caveats
As at the verification date (27 August 2026) only a few days remain before the final 31 August 2026 deadline: after that the programme closes and pig-housing investments revert to the Länder AFP schemes (from 1 September 2026 in Baden-Württemberg, from 1 September 2026 in NRW when the moratorium ends, from 2027 in Lower Saxony). The deadline has already been extended in the past. Limited to the pig sector: not relevant for irrigation or precision agriculture.
Status recalculated. The managing body’s portal listed this scheme as «aperto», but the published deadline says otherwise. In such cases we go by the date.
