Boosting agrobiodiversity for food security and sustainable competitiveness

What it funds

Topic on increasing biodiversity in farming systems as a lever for food security and farm competitiveness. Projects must demonstrate how crop and genetic diversification improves production resilience without penalising profitability, quantifying agronomic and economic results at farm level. The multi-actor approach is required, with direct involvement of farmers and land managers, as is cooperation with the Commission's Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity. Budget EUR 12 million, 2 expected grants of EUR 6 million. The grant is awarded as a lump sum. Opened 17 April 2026, deadline 17 September 2026.

Who can apply

Consortia including research organisations, farming and agri-food companies, SMEs, producer organisations, public bodies and farm advisory services. The multi-actor approach is mandatory.

Almeno 3 soggetti giuridici indipendenti da 3 diversi Stati membri o paesi associati, di cui almeno 1 in uno Stato membro. Nessun vincolo di residenza o stabilimento locale per le imprese italiane. Soggetti di paesi terzi non associati ammessi come partner non finanziati salvo deroghe. Il JRC può partecipare come beneficiario a costo zero.
